Thus, the present study examines the strategic lexicalization in the vision and mission statements of Indonesia’s 2024 presidential candidates by analyzing how language conveys ideologies and influences voters’ perceptions. This study investigated the frequency and distribution of verbs, adjectives, and modals in the vision and mission statements of Anies–Muhaimin, Prabowo–Gibran, and Ganjar–Mahfud. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach with a corpus of 42,021 tokens processed by means of AntConc 4.3.1. The findings reveal distinct lexical patterns and illustrate further how distribution and choice of lexemes impact ideological polarization in electoral contexts and frame policy agendas among the candidates.
Rio Nur Rachmad Copyright (c) 2025 Rio Nur Rachmad https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 https://madah.kemendikdasmen.go.id/index.php/madah/article/view/1059 Fri, 31 Oct 2025 00:00:00 +0700 Kompas.com Media Representation of the Cianjur Disaster: Van Leeuwen’s Critical Discourse Analysis https://madah.kemendikdasmen.go.id/index.php/madah/article/view/1082

This study reveals how the media shapes public opinion through the representation of social actors in disaster reporting. It reveals Kompas.com's tendency to highlight the role of government officials in disaster management. The purpose of this research is to analyze Van Leeuwen's inclusion theory in Kompas.com news with the theme Cianjur Earthquake. The library technique was used to collect data for this research. Articles used as research data were collected and cut and then given an identity. The data card format was used to identify the data. In this study, researchers used qualitative descriptive data analysis techniques. The data collected from observations were analyzed gradually using three stages, including data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Data presentation is done using tables along with narratives about the explanation of the data that has been found. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that there are three categories of Van Leeuwen's inclusion theory found, including objectivation-abstraction, determination-indetermination, and assimilation-individualization. Thus, findings of this study revealed that in writing news about the Cianjur Earthquake, news writers highlighted government officials. This aims to raise the image of the government as a social actor who cares about earthquake victims and is ready to handle them.

Lova Daniel Simatupang, Ahmad Nafi`ul Walid, Andi Tenri Ribi Farhana Copyright (c) 2025 Lova Daniel Simatupang, Ahmad Nafi`ul Walid, Andi Tenri Ribi Farhana https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 https://madah.kemendikdasmen.go.id/index.php/madah/article/view/1082 Fri, 31 Oct 2025 00:00:00 +0700 Multimodality In The Feasibility Of Presentation Standards And Design Of Indonesian Language Textbooks For Junior High School/ Islamic Junior High School Grade VII https://madah.kemendikdasmen.go.id/index.php/madah/article/view/1086
Visual intelligence skills will develop if supported by educators' understanding of multimodal concepts. However, there is a lack of knowledge about multimodal concepts among educators to support visual skills. This study aims to describe the feasibility of presentation and design standards in textbooks based on BSKAP and their interaction with multimodal concepts. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The data source in this study is the 2023 revised edition of the Indonesian Language textbook for Grade VII Junior High School/MTs from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology in the form of illustrations that have been considered with multimodal analysis. The data collection technique in this study uses descriptive observation through document review. Data analysis uses content analysis and interactive analysis models. The results obtained from the presentation and design standards were dominated by the ability to provide communicative aspects to students in accordance with the context of the text based on the delivery of content and use of language, and the suitability of the illustration data with its multimodal elements. The implication of this study is to help interpret an image with text that can improve visual knowledge and skills.
Rahmad Nanda Susanto Copyright (c) 2025 Rahmad Nanda Susanto https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 https://madah.kemendikdasmen.go.id/index.php/madah/article/view/1086 Fri, 31 Oct 2025 00:00:00 +0700 Analysis of Meaning Shift in Subtitle Translation of Arabic Cartoon Video “Fawwaz Nuroh: Al-Amanah” on Youtube Channel: Semantic Study https://madah.kemendikdasmen.go.id/index.php/madah/article/view/1120

Meaning shift frequently occurs in translation, often influenced by linguistic and cultural differences between the source language (SL) and the target language (TL). The conservative aspect was found in the patterns in the writing of the work and its function to pass on values to society. The additive aspect was found in describing the benefits of following the advice given. The aspect of closeness to everyday life can be found in the depiction of the advice given. The participatory aspect can be found when the author invites readers to follow the narrative interactively.
Muhammad Anas Wifaqul Azmi Copyright (c) 2025 Muhammad Anas Wifaqul Azmi https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 https://madah.kemendikdasmen.go.id/index.php/madah/article/view/1187 Fri, 31 Oct 2025 00:00:00 +0700 Challenges in Implementing Yaum al-Lughah among Arabic Language Education Students at the State Islamic University of Imam Bonjol Padang https://madah.kemendikdasmen.go.id/index.php/madah/article/view/1227
Students’ speaking skills in Arabic have not developed optimally due to limited opportunities for language interaction. The Yaum al-Lughah program, designed to address this issue, faces a major challenge: low student participation. This study aims to analyze the problems and solutions in implementing the program. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The findings reveal two main aspects of the problem: internal factors such as low motivation, lack of confidence, and limited vocabulary; and external factors including insufficient institutional support, weak program socialization, and lack of supervision. Proposed solutions include training, mentoring, language practice activities, incentives, and stronger institutional involvement. The study implies that enhancing the effectiveness of Yaum al-Lughah requires comprehensive strategies that strengthen students’ internal motivation and provide adequate external support.
Yanda Rismawati Copyright (c) 2025 Yanda Rismawati https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 https://madah.kemendikdasmen.go.id/index.php/madah/article/view/1227 Fri, 31 Oct 2025 00:00:00 +0700 Indonesia https://madah.kemendikdasmen.go.id/index.php/madah/article/view/1232 Nur Auliya Fitriah , Amar Ma’ruf Syarif, Mohamad Harjum, Nur Shofiyyah Zahrho Copyright (c) 2025 Amar Ma'ruf Syarif, Nur Auliya Fitriah, Mohamad Harjum, Nur Shofiyyah Zahrho https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 https://madah.kemendikdasmen.go.id/index.php/madah/article/view/1232 Fri, 31 Oct 2025 00:00:00 +0700 LINGUISTIC LANDSCAPE STUDY: STORE AND RESTAURANT NAMES AS REPRESENTATIONS OF MULTICULTURAL IDENTITY IN PRINGSEWU, LAMPUNG https://madah.kemendikdasmen.go.id/index.php/madah/article/view/1257
This study examines the use of language in the names of shops and restaurants in Pringsewu Regency through the perspective of Linguistic Landscape (Landry & Bourhis, 1997). The purpose of this study is to understand the characteristics of the multicultural region of Pringsewu Regency, Lampung, based on the naming of shops and restaurants on Jalan Lubtas. The research was conducted using a qualitative case study method through observation, documentation, questionnaires, and thematic analysis (Braun & Clarke, 2006). The results of the study show that business names generally have an informational function, conveying the identity of the product and business owner, while the symbolic function displays cultural identity through local pronouns such as Mas, Abang, or Teteh; regional names on the island of Java, Sidoharjo, Yogyakarta, etc.; architectural objects; and ancestral inheritance—the existence of the restaurant name “Gajah Mada” with the aim of preserving Indonesian history. The study concludes that the choice of language in the names of shops and restaurants in Pringsewu has many variations, not only used as a commercial strategy, but also as a social identity, a learning tool, and a builder of familiarity. These variations are formed by the private sector, thus forming a bottom-up pattern that indicates the absence of specific regulations from the government in naming shops and restaurants (Ben-Rafael, 2006).
Bazzam Ridzwan Copyright (c) 2025 Bazzam Ridzwan https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 https://madah.kemendikdasmen.go.id/index.php/madah/article/view/1257 Fri, 31 Oct 2025 00:00:00 +0700
