Criminal acts frequently occur within society. This phenomenon is often depicted in literary works as a reflection of social reality. This study focuses on analyzing the representation of criminal acts in the novel Al Lish Wal Kilab by Naguib Mahfouz through a forensic linguistics approach. The objectives of this research are: (1) to identify the criminal acts found in Naguib Mahfouz’s novel Al Lish Wal Kilab, and (2) to describe and classify the criminal acts that occur in the novel according to the existing provisions of the Indonesian Criminal Code (KUHP). The research method used is descriptive qualitative, with data sourced from the dialogues of characters in the novel Al Lish Wal Kilab. The data collection techniques include reading and note-taking. The analysis in this study employs Jan Svartvik’s forensic linguistics approach. The study found that: (1) the novel represents various types of criminal acts that frequently occur in society, and (2) the criminal acts found in Al Lish Wal Kilab can be classified into four categories of offenses that violate the existing Criminal Code.
